According to Dr. Khoat Van Tran, director of the hospital project, "We are looking for investors who want to participate in this financially sound investment and humanitarian project that fills a significant need for the people of Vietnam and the many foreign businessmen and tourists who may need medical care."

At present, Vietnamese, foreign businessmen and travelers may have to be flown to Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong to receive care, which is both costly and inconvenient.

The goal of this humanitarian project is to improve medical care in Vietnam, as well as create employment opportunities. Local construction materials will be used to build the hospital and local architecture firms and construction companies will be selected as subcontractors.

Dr. Tran, born in Vietnam, and now a U.S citizen and President of Keystone Development Group, Inc. has received the full support of the Hanoi Capitol Government. The Keystone Development Group has been working in Vietnam for more than 14 years.

To facilitate progress on the project, the Keystone Development Group has received official license and approval of the project by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Vietnam. Land clearing, architectural design, land title and the piling test have all been completed and the foundation is ready to be laid.

Services for both in-patient and out-patient care currently planned will include:
    • General Medical Care
    • Surgery
    • Emergency Medicine
    • Pediatrics
    • Cardiology, Oncology and much more,
    • Complete ancillary services such as (but not limited to) pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory will also be part of the complex.

  • US Firm Floats $2 Billion Island Project
    October 27, 2003

A $2-billion entertainment complex could go up on HCM City's Thanh Da-Binh Quoi island if a US firm's plan is approved. Keystone Development Management met with city authorities to discuss the project, according to a source from the city's Planning and Investment Department. "The island is reserved for cultural and tourism projects but we are considering the request and must confer with higher agencies due to its large scale," the source said. The complex is reportedly planned for a 300ha site and would have theme parks, hotels, shopping centres and infrastructure facilities.

Keystone's business manager, Nguyen Thi Giang Huong, said the company wanted approval as soon as possible. Keystone entered Vietnam in the early 1990s and received a 40-year investment licence in 1997 to build a $50-million, 200-bed international hospital in Hanoi. The Hanoi International American Hospital is to be built on a 9ha site in Dich Vong of Cau Giay district.

Keystone paid $38,700 in compensation to homeowners on the site in May but Dich Vong authorities then delayed the handover, Ms Huong said. The Hanoi People's Committee intervened on Keystone's behalf to resolve the dispute, Ms Huong said. Hanoi's only international hospital is the $30-million Hanoi French Hospital which opened in 1997. Ms Huong said Hanoi would be able to sustain two international hospitals because of the fast-growing number of foreign investors living and doing business in Vietnam.
