INTRODUCTION

Dr. Khoat Van Tran Director, US Hospital in Vietnam Project
Vietnam is being modernized in all areas of life: agriculture, industry, commerce, economy,
culture, and politics. In order to implement their dream, Vietnamese Government officials
have convinced foreign investors to build luxurious hotels, and the best restaurants, but
have yet to find any group to invest in the healthcare industry including hospitals fully
equipped with the most sophisticated, high tech medical instruments.
The recent statistics from Vietnam indicate that tourism there increases 20% per year. The
number of Vietnamese expatriates coming home increases 30% annually. Foreign workers in
Vietnam are present in all provinces and districts. The world diplomacy corp constitutes a
significant number. However, the income of the local Vietnamese businessmen has been growing
around 25%, and the National Gross Income of Vietnam accumulates 12%. Unfortunately, Vietnam
is yet to have any healthcare facility with international standards in response to the
urgent needs of foreign and local people.

LOCATION OF THE PROJECT
The US Hospital is being built in the Capital City of Vietnam, Hanoi | Hanoi the capitol of Vietnam, is where the modernization must begin, and then its influence will expend over all
of the country. Today, foreign workers and high ranking officials must be treated in
Hongkong, Singapore, or Bangkok when they get sick. This situation is unacceptable. It
becomes an obstacle to civilization and development. Not all patients have the appropriate
means to go abroad, and not all patients can be hospitalized on time. Deaths in these cases
are not rare in Vietnam.
The International American Hospital not only will be able respond to the urgent needs of
people, but also to promote modern life, and foster the trend of life for the new generation
in Vietnam. The selection of the locality of Hanoi is strategical. As for people of the
world, the International American Hospital is a familiar symbol of the charity and
generosity of American people who want to bring peace to the world rather than the hate of
the past.
The International American Hospital operating in Hanoi is the best way to close this
dramatic chapter of American history. It is a practical means to put away the syndrome of
Vietnam. In short, it is the act of building the friendship between two countries.

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
